Sundays
Gathering together each Sunday is at the heart of our church life.
The best way to get to know us at Holywell is to attend one of our Sunday services. Our morning service starts at 10:30am and has activities for children & young people. Our evening service starts at 6:30pn. Each service runs for about one hour and is informal in style. At the heart of each service is a reading and sermon from the Bible. There will also be a time of prayer, sung worship, and refreshments afterwards. Anyone is welcome to each and every service!
New to Holywell Church?
Welcome! Whether you’ve just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about this church.
We realize that coming to a church for the first time can be scary. This page includes some practical information to make your visit as easy as possible. Please feel free to contact us if you would like any more information before you come. If you are new to Christianity, then take a look at this page or feel free to come along to any of our events and meetings – you are more than welcome!
When and Where does the church meet?
We meet every Sunday at 10.30 am and 6.30 pm. Our address is Holywell Church, Berkeley Road, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE11 3SJ. Parking is available on-site via our church car park. You can see a map of where we meet on our contact us page.
In addition to our Sunday Services, we have a number of midweek activities for all ages. More information is available in the “Get Involved” section of this website.
What should I expect if I come on a Sunday?
You will be greeted by a member of our Welcome Team who will be able to answer any questions you might have about our gathering. They will give you a Service Sheet and a Bible and will show you where you need to go. During our Sunday services, we spend time singing, praying, reading from God’s word (the Bible), and listening to it being taught. Our usual practice is to work our way through a book of the Bible (or part of one) over a term, taking a section each week, but from time to time we also do a topical talk series.
Our services usually last about an hour. After the formal part of our meeting finishes, refreshments are served in the lounge area. Please do stay if you can – we would love to get to know you. You can find out more information about the church or ask any questions you have in the lobby area. Alternatively, you can fill out a welcome card with some basic details, and a member of our church will happily get in touch with you during the week.
What happens to the kids on a Sunday?
On Sunday mornings, there are Breakfast Bible Clubs before the service, for those in school years 6-13. You can find out more here.
During our morning services, we offer creche facilities, as well as small groups for children in Key stages 1 and 2. Those in Key stage 3 and above usually stay in for the whole service, including the sermon.
Children join us for the start of the service (which often includes a short talk specifically aimed for young children), and then leave for their groups when directed to do so. There will be plenty of people around to show you where to go. The kids will have great fun playing games and learning about Jesus in a way tailored to their age and understanding.
Children are very welcome to come to our evening services. Clipboards, pens, and somtimes worksheets are available to help them to concentrate during the sermon.
Is there a dress code?
No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your ‘normal’ clothes.
Will I have to join in?
Not at all! You are free simply to observe or to participate as much as you feel comfortable. Most of our time together is led from the front by one of our ministers. You will not be asked to say anything in front of others.
I have more questions, how can I get in touch?
Please feel free to contact us – we’d love to hear from you!
